ART for Arthritis
April 3, 2018
This year we're excited to say we've teamed up with the local Arthritis Foundation to help by supporting their annual ART for Arthritis Gala!
To make the event exciting and fun, we (along with the outstanding Arthritis Foundation crew) decided to have the kids have a little fun and do some jewelry designing of their own! We supplied two green tourmaline gemstones and five diamonds. The kids then got a chance to come into the Studio to see the gemstones and some other designs in the showroom, to help give them some design ideas. From there they had the opportunity to come up with a couple designs each.
They returned to the Studio a few weeks later with their designs. We had 5 local judges come to the store to pick a winner. The team of judges included David Johnson, Dr. David Jones, Jim Entenman, Joseph Herst, and Kirby Schultz! The winning design was created by Katie (design and more to be shared later)!
Each of the kids returned a week later to see how the design was coming to fruition! They had the opportunity to see some of our jewelers in action and learn how the custom process works. The finished piece will be unveiled at the Gala and be put on the silent auction!
Below is some information regarding the 2018 Gala.
The 2018 Gala will give local children with arthritis an introduction to the arts and offer an opportunity to explore an alternative form of self-expression. Too often these children have been limited in their choice of activities due to the disease. Research has shown that art can be a beneficial outlet for anyone suffering mentally or physically. These children, supported by a mentor artist, are come together to fight their arthritis by raising awareness about the disease and assisting others who advocate on their behalf. In addition, the mentor artists as well as other local artists, donate artwork to the auction to assist in raising funds to support the Arthritis Foundation's mission.
